This piece, in gouache, intends to create a commentary on the heavy implementation of simple modern architecture and how it has contributed to the neglect of the complex historical beauty of baroque architecture. The first piece, referenced from Adolph Menzel's “The Interior of the Jakobskirche” depicts a highly detailed vision of a church. The second piece is a recreation of the same church in a highly simple way (depicting modern architecture) to contrast the two and display the demise of this historical artform.
